Biografia Vincenzo Boni

Vincenzo Boni is an Italian Paralympic swimmer. He started swimming as a child for therapeutic purposes, but then, swimming became his great passion. He won his first medal in 2014, when he won bronze at the Italian Championships in Bari. He was then called up for the World Championships in Glasgow in 2015, where he won one silver medal in the 50m backstroke, and two bronze medals in the 50m freestyle and 200 m freestyle. In 2016 he became European champion in the 50m backstroke and collected four silver medals in the 50m freestyle, double silver in the relay races 4 x 50 freestyle and 4 x 50 mixed, and bronze in the 200m freestyle. Following these important results, he was called up for the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and then for the Paralympics in Tokyo 2020. In addition, he was awarded the honour of Cavaliere della Repubblica by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.
