INSTANT EXTREME BCAA+ is a L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine and L-Valine supplement with an 8:1:1 ratio and vitamins B1, B6, B2, B12 and folic acid.

L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine and L-Valine are three of the eight essential amino acids that we cannot synthesize and must take via our diet or supplementation. One of their characteristics is to be branched-chained and therefore they are called branched-chain amino acids or, more commonly, BCAAs. Unlike others, they can be metabolised also in the muscle, and not just in the liver, and be used directly for the reconstruction of damaged fibres, allowing a quicker recovery time. Moreover, the proteins of the muscle are particularly rich in BCAAs, 35% of the BCAAs are to be found in the muscle. So, an intake of just BCAAs after intense physical activity is more advantageous for the reconstruction of the muscle fibres since they get directly to the muscle where they work quickly.

The 8:1:1 ratio shows the presence of eight times the quantity of Leucine than Valine and Isoleucine. This because the activator of the protein synthesis and anti-catabolic properties are attributed to Leucine. Valine and Isoleucine have just an energy function. Many studies have shown that increasing the dose of Leucine, sportsmen have felt more the effects of this amino acid. So, increased protein synthesis, decreased catabolism and better recovery. Moreover, it seems that Leucine behaves also as an anabolic substance, increasing the concentrations of GH (Growth Hormone). At liver level, Leucine plays a governing role of the "protein turnover", diminishing the production of ammonium typical of hepatic pain.

Another characteristic of branched amino acids is their ability to maintain the levels of testosterone (anabolic) unchanged or increase them and reduce the levels of cortisol (anti-anabolic), creating an anabolic balance that promotes the development of the muscle mass.

They compete with the essential amino acid tryptophan at nervous system level, decreasing the synthesis of serotonin that contributes to the feeling of fatigue. Avoiding the catabolism of muscle protein and acting directly on the feeling of fatigue, they are useful before, during and after either short or long physical activity, whether it is of the aerobic, anaerobic or mixed type.

To maximize the assimilation and effectiveness of amino acids, vitamins B1 and B6 have been added. Vitamin B6 contributes to the normal protein and glycogen metabolism and to reducing tiredness and fatigue, while vitamin B1 contributes to maintain the physiological energy metabolism.
